Remember the mirror ball? Holding hands and skating with your first sweetheart? Everyone has a Stardust Roller Rink story. And Saturday you can relive them. The old Surrey Stardust in Whally (10240 City Parkway) closed down years ago. But Saturday, July 8th at noon, it will re-open for one last series of skates. The building is about be to demolished to make way for a 58 storey condo tower. But the developer has decided to throw a final party so people can say goodbye. The doors re-open at noon and will close for good at 11pm.
An Eventbrite page gave these details:
“Please join us for our series of last skates on Saturday July 8th to help create one last memory before the Stardust property is redeveolped. Lets all get together for a final farewell to Stardust!
Three of the skates are going to be free admission with a ticket required. The last skate of the evening will be a $5 ticket price with proceeds going to the Surrey Food Bank’s Tiny Bundles program.”
Sadly it appears all the skate spots have been snapped up. But who knows, maybe there will be some last minute cancellations.
